Prof. Dr. Zhanet Grudeva-Popova, MD, PhD, MHM

Prof. Dr. Zhanet Grudeva-Popova, MD graduated in medicine at VMI – Plovdiv as a winner of the „Golden Hippocrates“ award. She has acquired three medical specialties: Internal Diseases (1988), Clinical Hematology (1991), and Medical Oncology (2010). Since 2003, she holds a Master’s degree in Health Management. Professor at the Medical Faculty, MU-Plovdiv (2013), founder of the Department of Clinical Oncology. Since 2009 and currently, Prof. Grudeva-Popova is the Deputy Director of Diagnostic and Treatment Activities at University Hospital „St. George“ EAD – Plovdiv. Head of the Clinic of Clinical Hematology (2017). She holds expert and consultative positions such as Chief Coordinator of the Expert Council on Clinical Hematology; Chair of the State Examination Commission for the specialty of Medical Oncology; Member/Chair of the State Examination Commission for the specialty of „Clinical Hematology“; and participates in national and international professional and scientific boards.

Prof. Grudeva-Popova, MD is the author of over 160 scientific publications in peer-reviewed professional journals, with over 130 citations. She participates as a scientific consultant and member of the editorial boards of numerous scientific medical publications. For two mandates she was the Vice Dean of Research Activities at the Medical Faculty, MU – Plovdiv, as well as a member of the Faculty Council of the institution; for one mandate she was also a member of the Academic Council of MU – Plovdiv. Prof. Grudeva is a member of various national and international professional organizations, including BUON, ASCO, ESMO, EHA, ASH, and others.

Prof. Grudeva-Popova, MD is a supervisor of specializing physicians in clinical hematology and medical oncology, a scientific supervisor of PhD students, and a member of scientific juries for habilitations. She participates in intra-university, national, and international scientific projects. She is a winner of the national award of the Bulgarian Medical Association (2024) for long-term merits in healthcare, as well as holding multiple nominations in the „The Doctors We Trust“ campaign.

Head of the Clinic of Radiation Oncology,
University Hospital „St. George“ – Plovdiv

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veselin Popov, MD graduated in medicine at MU-Plovdiv with excellent grades. He has acquired a clinical specialty in radiation oncology, as well as a Master’s degree in Health Management. Since 2022, he is an Associate Professor at the Medical Faculty, MU-Plovdiv. Currently, Assoc. Prof. Popov is the Head of the Clinic of radiation oncology at University Hospital „St. George“ EAD – Plovdiv and Head of the Department of Clinical Oncology at MU-Plovdiv. He is a member of the Expert Council on the medical specialty of radiation oncology at the Ministry of Health, as well as the Academic Council of MU-Plovdiv.

Assoc. Prof. Popov is the winner of the Bulgarian Medical Association award for Physician of the Year in the category „You are our future“ for 2018, as well as the annual award „Crown of Audacity“ for contribution to Bulgarian clinical oncology for 2023. Assoc. Prof. Popov, MD is the author of over 50 scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals. He is a member of various national and international professional organizations such as ESMO, ESTRO, the Guild of Radiotherapists in Bulgaria, and others.

Assoc. Prof. Popov, MD is a supervisor of specializing physicians in radiation oncology, as well as a scientific supervisor of PhD students. He has participated in various national and international scientific projects.

Head of the Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology,
University Hospital „St. George“ – Plovdiv

Assoc. Prof. Teodor Aleksiev, MD graduated in medicine at the Medical University – Plovdiv with excellent grades. In 2017, he started working as an assistant at the Department of Dermatology and Venereology – MU Plovdiv and as a specializing physician at the Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology – University Hospital „St. George“. In 2022, he acquired the specialty of Skin and Venereal Diseases, and in 2023 he defended his doctoral degree. Since 2024, he is the acting Head of the Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology at University Hospital „St. George“.

Assoc. Prof. Teodor Aleksiev, MD is the author of over 20 publications in international and national journals. He is a member of various professional organizations – EADV, IDS, and others.

Objectives

Of the Association

The association aims to contribute to the improvement of public health through the development and implementation of proven preventive and innovative therapeutic oncological practices.

Achieving these goals involves raising awareness about proven risk factors and the importance of a healthy lifestyle; organizing campaigns for prevention, early diagnosis, and familiarization with modern therapeutic approaches; establishing a multidisciplinary network and support groups for patients and their relatives; and optimizing cooperation with institutions and partners.
